Stonecrest Bunco Clubs raised $1,500 on Monday to benefit the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association, which provides horse-riding experiences to physically and mentally disabled children and adults.

The Bunco Babes and Rowdy Rascals held a “bunco luncheon” at the Brownstone Pub at Sontecrest’s Country Club. They sold 100 tickets to bunco players and sold drawing tickets for prizes donated from area businesses.

MTRA is financed completely by grants, donations and fundraisers. Its two facilities, Greenway and Hillcrest School, are located in Ocala. Greenway is for children and adults and operates on a sliding-scale fee schedule. Hillcrest School is for children in Marion Country School Districk’s exceptional students’ education program. It is free to Hillcrest School students and the school district.

Debbie Erlick of Stonecrest said she wants to spread awareness about MTRA’s activities and its need for volunteers. “It’s a wonderful organization with wonderful people and wonderful training for volunteers,” Erlick said. Anyone interested in supporting or volunteering for MTRA may contact Karen Holmberg at 352-732-7300.
