Three talented riders brought home four great ribbons from the Grand Oaks Challenge Show, held at the beautiful Grand Oaks Resort in Weirsdale, FL on February 1st, 2014.
Allie Glunt and her coach, MTRA Instructor Jessica Brown, were thrilled with her achievements. Allie’s faithful volunteer leader, Patti Homschek, exclaimed “I knew you had ‘The Right Stuff!'” Allie’s partner in her spectacular performances was a relative newcomer to the MTRA team, Goldie, who made sure Allie’s horsemanship talent was recognized by the glow emanating from this beautiful palomino mare’s coat. Since this was Allie’s first horse show, she was on-lead for her two classes as added support; however, she controlled that pony all by herself! Her 2nd place in Walk/Trot Equitation and her 4th place in Walk/Trot Trail were rewards for her excellent effort.
Instructor Sally Ann Lyle was all smiles when she lead Blake Myers aboard Ernie into the Grand Oaks arena for their debut. And Blake and Ernie’s partnership did not go unnoticed by the judge, who awarded them first place for their effort!
Long-time MTRA student Christopher Sprague was also treated to glorious rides on the impressive warmblood Ernie, who has a big-going trot that really shines over Christopher’s excellent seat and hands. It was only Christopher’s third time aboard Ernie and he handled him beautifully! This new team earned an outstanding 5th place in Walk/Trot Equitation and a 3rd place in Walk/Trot Trail, both classes were independent with no assistance. Ernie is also a relatively recent donation and MTRA owes a world of thanks to Katherine Frazier and daughter Annie Frazier Crandell for deciding to place him with us. He has certainly found his new calling and we are all thrilled. Christopher, Blake and Annie gathered for a group photo of “Ernie Riders Past and Present”, and Ernie seemed to bask in all the attention.
Also on hand for support and guidance were MTRA’s VIPs, Volunteer Coordinator Karen Holmberg and Barn Manager Gail Dufresne. Thanks to everyone for their support and cheers for our riders!
