Leslie recently retired from the State of Alabama after 25 years of service. She began her state career at the Department of Industrial Relations. In 1991, Leslie transferred to the Department of Corrections, where she worked in the Investigation and Intelligence Division for nine years. She then transferred to the Department of Child and Neglect Prevention (The Children’s Trust Fund – CTF) where she worked closely with community-based programs to make Alabama’s children safer through innovative programs funded by CTF for over 13 years. While at CTF, working full time and raising two teenagers, Leslie returned to college and completed her Bachelor of Arts.

In 2012, Leslie transferred to Serve Alabama, The Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Volunteer Service. At Serve Alabama, Leslie filled the position of Administrative Director, supported the Disaster Preparedness Response work and assisted with AmeriCorps.

In 2013, Leslie began volunteering at Montgomery Area Non-Traditional Equestrian (MANE) as a service project with Serve Alabama. Since then, she has continued to volunteer there and is currently working to obtain her certification as a Therapeutic Horseback Riding Instructor. Leslie plans to use this certification to combine her love of horses as well as help adults and children with disabilities. Leslie has two children, Brandon, 24 and Rhyan, 21, who both reside in Montgomery. Leslie and her husband Nick have recently relocated to the Ocala area, where Nick has also begun a new position.
