Grab a mint julep, some burgoo, and your favorite hat because the call to the post is about to sound!
Marion Therapeutic Riding Association is thrilled to announce our very first virtual running event:
The MTRA 5k Gallop!
Everyone who registers will get this awesome 3″ “triple crown” medal featuring one of our favorite MTRA horses: Snowy!! It comes on a custom, dye-submilated ribbon with velcro attachment so it works on all medal hangers. Participants will also get an awesome custom digital bib that you can print out or use online…and you get to pick any name and number you want! Make it fun!
This event is “virtual” meaning that you can complete the distance any way at any location you want! You can walk, hike, run, skip, jump or dance your 5k in your neighborhood, on your treadmill, around your backyard, or any where you want! You can even break up the distance and complete it over several days to make it more manageable!
This event is on the “honor system”, so we don’t need “proof” of completion. As long as you’re registered, you’ll get your medal. Completing the distance is up to you!
Your registration is a tax-deductible donation to MTRA and will help us continue our mission to offer the miraculous benefits of therapeutic horseback riding to persons of all ages and capabilities that are physically, mentally or emotionally challenged.
While you can complete your distance any time you want, we’d love for you to complete your 5k before the Preakness Stakes on October 3rd, and join hundreds of MTRA friends as we run/walk together even while we are apart! Make sure you share your #sweatyselfie in our Facebook group page here. We imagine some of you will have those happy, fit, smiley faces looking like you just stepped out of the A/C, while others of us might be red faced and sweaty as we are crawling the last few steps… we want them ALL!
Registration closes on October 3rd at midnight PDT and all of the medals will be mailed out about two weeks later.
Finally, we would like to thank our friends at Random Tuesday and their Powered By Fanthropy program for facilitating this event. If you have any questions or problems, they are eager to help, so don’t hesitate to contact them.
